All of us definitely agree on the fact that India is a very diverse country and I am indeed proud to be a part of this diversity. People following all religions that you can think of live here. But do you know which religion is common amongst the masses of India ? Try to guess !! Ok, let me give you a hint. This is a religion which doesn't need any fasting or sacrifices. Yes you guessed it right, it's CRICKET . It may sound weird but Indians' heart beats for cricket and it is undoubtedly the first love for all Indians. And talking about Indian cricket , the God of Cricket is definitely SACHIN TENDULKAR or the One Man Army as his fans call him.
When it comes to me , I am completely a #CrazyForCricket type of person. Whenever a cricket match is about to commence , I just snatch the control of the TV remote from whosoever is watching the TV , sit on the sofa , with the Indian flag painted on my cheek and the placards of 4s and 6s in my hand. But all this is just the tip of the iceberg. I am that crazy that I sit to watch the match when the toss is going on and then my love for cricket just keeps me glued to the sofa until the post-match presentation is over. Even the fact that it is my exam the next day does not allow me to miss the match. May it be an annual examination , I can study sooner or later but cant miss even a single ball. The suspense packed in cricket keeps the fan in me alive as nobody knows what may happen on the next ball.
The world accepts that India has given birth to some of the finest players in the history of cricket!!! Although MS Dhoni , Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli have made it to my list, Rohit Sharma is my favorite cricketer.
Rohit Sharma or the Hitman is a player par excellence . His records are really unbreakable. With over 9115 runs in ODI , 2773 runs in T20s and 2141 runs in test with an outstanding strike rate of above 50 in all formats of the game, he continues to win people's hearts. He has an awesome 39 hundreds in international cricket to his name and became the first cricketer to slam 5 hundreds in a single world cup edition in 2019. His unbelievable record of 3 double centuries in ODI cricket and the highest individual ODI score of 264 is really commendable. In the IPL , he captains Mumbai Indians and is regarded as the most successful IPL captain with a surprising 4 titles to his name. Although his initial days were not as good , but now the ball never fails to make it to the boundaries after touching Rohit's bat. I am really a fan of how effortlessly he plays. He is really an inspiration for many.
Oh ! How can we forget the India-Pakistan match . The whole world is on one side and the India-Pakistan match on the other ! It is more like a war than a match. In an India-Pakistan match , Pakistan winning is as impossible as horns growing on a donkey's neck ,especially in the world cup( no offense , they have awesome players too ) . Cricket never fails to make it to the headlines of the Indian newspapers . It is played in every nook and corner of the country. When India wins the world cup , it is no less than Diwali whereas in the time of failure, the die-hearted fans extend their support and motivation. And that situation , when a six is needed off the last ball
really has the spectators speechless and tensed . Indian people are really experts at predicting about how much which team will score.
I think the main reason behind India being one of the unbeatable sides in the game is because of the love that cricketers get here. In India , cricket is not just a game but a feeling. One of my best friends , Srishti is just a cricket-lover like me and it is the only topic that we can talk about for hours .We are so crazy that once we asked our teacher to tell us the score of the ongoing India-New Zealand match as we were in school and were dying to know the score. And as I already told , here cricket is more than just a game so our teacher too told us the score contrary to us expecting that we would end up getting scolded. At the end , I just want to say that I LOVE CRICKET and # Cricket Is My Life .
Lots of love ๐
